Is Dr. Greenwood the right dentist for you?
The patient that fits well into Dr. Greenwood’s practice is the one who truly believes in a conservative approach to dental health. He/she wants to do everything reasonable to pretect the integrity of his/her oral cavity and understands the time and money investment necessary to achieve that goal; however, hearing all the options available along with anticipated costs and pros and cons is definitely appreciated. Many dentists seem to forget that doing nothing is an option, and it comes with consequences just like every other option. Sometimes, doing nothing is actually the desireable option. Dr. Greenwood’s patients typically don’t want to be pressured into unnecessary or purely esthetic procedures, although a discussion of what those possibilities might be would certainly be welcome, once (not every visit).
Dr. Greenwood’s conservative, logical, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach is increasingly unique. His common sense attitude generally results in a treatment plan that’s acceptable to even the most skeptical or finically strapped individuals. When you first walk into his office, you’ll be greeted by friendly faces and dental equipment that was installed over 40 years ago. It’s old, but it still does the job; however, all the tools, handpieces and materials are new and state of the art. You’ll see computers and digital radiograph equipment as well as the old fashion cuspidor and personal water cup.
Dr. Greenwood enjoys giving second opions and encourages his patients to get second opinions. Just recently he saw a patient who had been to another dentist and spent over $1500 for a dental exam, dental radiographs, TMJ radiographs and deep scaling and root planing spread out over three or four visits. The treatment plan included $9833 worth of bleaching, crowns and old filling replacements. Dr. Greenwood’s treatment plan reduced the final cost to $2560 and brought into serious question to necessity for TMJ radiographs as well as the need for deep scaling and root planing which had already been done. This is just the most recent example of what Dr. Greenwood sees more and more frequently in our new world of dental marketing and advertising.

Dr. Greenwood’s Thoughts on Cosmetic Dentistry
Anyone can have the smile of his or her dreams with the advances in dentistry we’ve seen in recent years, and Dr. Greenwood is very capable of giving that desired smile to all of his patients. However, Dr. Greenwood is not in the practice of pressuring his skills onto his patients. Those who desire cosmetic changes will get a thorough explanation of the pros and cons of doing such work. The pros typically include that awesome, movie star smile, competitive cost, and two to four or more different ways of getting the desired result. The cons typically include an explanation of the permanence of the solution; meaning, if there are problems, which are always a possibility even in the best of circumstances, it’s usually impossible to return to the way it once was. Restoration maintenance and/or replacement are certainly a future concern. Dr. Greenwood always strives for that “natural” look in every case he does, generally resulting in a very satisfied patient.
